This fall, I was privileged to work with media maven Frances-Anne Solomon and her visionary team as the official festival photographer for the 2016 CaribbeanTales Film Festival (CTFF2016).
This year's edition featured a vibrant opening night gala, a week of incredible screenings at the Royal Cinema featuring diverse film talents from across the Caribbean and the diaspora, and a filmmaker Incubator and Big Pitch contest where the winner was given the opportunity to expand their chosen pitch into a fully funded pilot.
I ran into some old friends, made some new ones, and indulged in stories that moved me, tickled me, and made me laugh and cry - in the case of the film "Trafficked", by Trinidadian filmmakers Sean Hodgkinson and (my old classmate!) Aurora Herrera, a little bit of both. And some, especially the animation program spotlighting "Battledream Chronicles" by Martinique-based animator Alain Bidard, frankly blew my mind.
Below is a video I made of the opening night gala and screening of the festival opener "Diary of a Badman", and the rest of my documentation of the festival can be found on the CaribbeanTales Film Festival Facebook page (which you should really consider following :) )
