My name is Gesila.
I am a Toronto-based writer, photographer and moving image storyteller, with a specific interest in portraiture, through both photography and cinematography.
I have an MFA in Documentary Media from Ryerson University, where I completed and premiered my first film, a short documentary called Indie Womyn, profiling the process of independent singer-songwriter Alysha Brilla as she recorded her Juno-nominated sophomore album, Womyn.
I have a deep interest in artists and their work, as well as in music, film, literature, and pop culture, and my own work explores themes related to identity, creativity, and belief.
I was born in Nigeria, grew up in Kenya, currently live in Canada, and consider myself a Third Culture Kid.
