About Gesilayefa Azorbo
Gesilayefa Azorbo is a Toronto-based writer, photographer and moving image storyteller, with a specific interest in portraiture, through both photography and cinematography.
She has an MFA in Documentary Media from Ryerson University, where she completed and premiered her first film, a short documentary called Indie Womyn, profiling the process of independent singer-songwriter Alysha Brilla as she recorded her Juno-nominated sophomore album, Womyn.
She has a deep interest in artists and their work, as well as in music, film, literature, and pop culture, and her own work explores themes related to identity, creativity, and belief.
She was born in Nigeria, grew up in Kenya, currently lives in Canada, and considers herself a Third Culture Kid.
